The protech process
After placing your order for your custom made Orthotic, you will need to make a mold of your feet using the biofoam box that is mailed to the location of your choice. Please carefully follow the detailed instructions below to ensure the best possible results.

A few things to remember before getting started:
1. You will need to make an impression of both feet in the one biofoam box mailed to you.

2. It is very important to buy a new pair of shoes before making your impression and before your finished custom Orthotic arrives and is worn. Do not wear your new shoes until receiving your custom Orthotic.

3. Your hand-crafted Orthotic helps you correct your improper step and regain a neutral position, so please remove the insole out of your new sneaker or shoe to send back with your biofoam box. We will use this insole to fit the custom Orthotic to your shoe.

Step 1: With bare feet, sit in a chair, place the biofoam box in front of you without stepping in yet, and align your body properly by establishing a right (90 degree) angle at the hip, knee and ankle. Observe feet to ensure proper neutral positioning. As seen in picture.

Step 2: Make sure your ankle is neither supinated (turned out) or pronated (turned in).

Step 3: Hold your ankle in a neutral position by supporting the talus (ankle joint) to prevent pronation as you make the impression. Place foot lightly over box, but do not apply pressure yet. Place free hand on the knee and press down on your leg to make the impression (best done with a partner), pushing the foot 1” to 1-1/2” deep into foam. Simultaneously, apply pressure to lateral aspect or back of the foot with your other hand.

Step 4: Finish your impression by pressing on the toes with both hands, thus a weight bearing flow is simulated – heel to mid-foot to toes- while foot is maintained in proper neutral position.

Step 5: Inspect the impression for defects or an uneven nature of the weight bearing surface. Repeat steps 1-5 with the other foot.
